"1959" by The Sisters of Mercy (from the album "Floodland") =========================================================== transcribed by Lucien Kleintjens (lucienk@wfw.wtb.tue.nl) The whole song is just the same three chord scheme repeated over and over again, which is transposed a couple of times. It starts out with: |Em |G(sus4) |D |D(sus4), of which I only notated the Em at the beginning of each four measures. If you know the song it shouldn't be so hard to sing and play along. The transpositions which are used are notated in the same way, i.e. /Cm : |Cm |D#(sus4) |A# |A#(sus4) /D#m : |D#m|F (sus4) |C |C (sus4) /A#m : |A#m|C#(sus4) |G# |G#(sus4) /Fm : |Fm |G#(sus4) |D# |D#(sus4) With all these transpositions it's adviseable to play all the chords in barre shape. The (sus4) note can be played to get a bit closer to the original (piano) version. Her's how I play it, more or less: Em G D D(sus4) ----------------3-----------------------5-----------5----------- 8-------8-------3---3-----------7---7-------------7-----8---7--- 9-----------9---4-------4-------7---------------7--------------- 9---------------5-----------5---7---------------7--------------- 7---------------5---------------5---------------5--------------- 7---------------3---------------5---------------5--------------- ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Hope you like it. Cheers, Luus. (lucienk@wfw.wtb.tue.nl)
